At the April 2 Pennsauken Township Committee meeting, longtime resident Diana Falana was recognized as the town’s inaugural “Super Senior” with a special proclamation.
After retirement, Diana has served faithfully as the crossing guard at Union and Park avenues, keeping safe our community’s most precious commodity. She often goes above and beyond the call of duty, providing clothing and support to those in need.

“I just want to take a moment to say how special this recognition truly is,” said Pennsauken Mayor Patrick Olivo. “Every single day as I drive through our community, I pass by Diana at her crossing guard post. And without fail, what stands out most is the joy she brings. You don’t just see someone doing a job. You see smiles, warmth, and genuine care for every child and family she interacts with. Diana represents the very best of Pennsauken: kindness, selflessness, and a true love for her community. And it’s an honor to recognize her today in such a meaningful way.”
In addition, Diana volunteers with Community Loves Learning in Camden, where she supports a community garden in a food desert and helps ensure children have safe access to it.
Diana’s life reflects the very best of Pennsauken through her generosity, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others.
“I want to thank everyone for giving me this wonderful award. I don’t feel as though that I deserve it. I do this out of the kindness of my heart,” said Diana, who shared this special moment with family and friends. “I love people, but more importantly, I just think children are the best thing since sliced bread. I love all the children that I cross. I think Pennsauken is a wonderful town.”
