Auditions Held For “Disney’s Frozen Junior” May 14-15

Auditions for the Pennsauken Youth Action Committee’s performance of “Disney’s Frozen Jr.” will be held on Tuesday, May 14, and Wednesday, May 15, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Howard M. Phifer Middle School, 8201 Park Ave., Pennsauken. Adapted for children ages 7 to 14, “Disney’s Frozen Jr.” is based on the popular 2018 Broadway musical and brings the memorable characters and songs from the highly popular animated film onstage.
Woman’s Club Book Exchange Held May 11 And 12
The Merchantville Woman’s Club Evening Membership Department will be hosting a Community Book Exchange on Saturday, May 11, from 10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., as well as and Sunday, May 12, 1:00 – 4:30 p.m., at the Pennsauken Free Public Library, 5605 N. Crescent Blvd. Clean out those attics and bookshelves, and bring any books you have outgrown or grown tired of. Please do not bring text books, user manuals, magazines, or books in very poor condition.
If you wish to donate books, they can be dropped off at the Library between 10:00 a.m. and noon on the 11th. Arrangements can be made to drop off books at another time by contacting Jan at janwh@aol.com or (609) 410-4650.

Festive Music, Food Trucks, And Fireworks Return With Summer Kickoff Bash

Great music, good food, and the return of fireworks will be the hallmarks of Pennsauken’s 2019 Summer Kickoff Bash. Held from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 at the Pennsauken Community Recreation Complex, located at the corner of Westfield and Bethel avenues, the entire community is invited to take part in this special celebration.
Early Registration Begins For PYAA Football And Cheer
Those interested in registering their children ages 5-14 for PYAA football or cheerleading can save money with early registration. This special in-person registration is held May 6-10, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., at Pennsauken’s turf field, 4250 Burwood Ave. During this time, the cost of registration is $150 for new players; $125 for football players that have their jersey from the 2018 season (the jersey must be brought at the time of registering); and $100 for cheerleading.
Regular registration begins June 1. The cost of registration is $175 for new football players; $175 for returning players without a jersey; and $150 for returning players that have their jersey from the 2018 season (the jersey must be brought at the time of registering). The cost for cheerleading is $130.

Camden County and Visit South Jersey are hosting the inaugural Down and Derby Wine Festival on May 4 at Cooper River Park. The event will feature tastings and wines from various South Jersey wineries, as well as instructional sessions on how to bet on the Kentucky Derby.

Richard’s River Run 5K Held At Cooper River Park On April 28
The 13th Annual Richard’s River Run 5K will be held on Sunday, April 28, at the certified course at Cooper River Park on North Park Drive, Pennsauken.
Participants can register to walk or run on site for $30. Registrants receive a run shirt while supplies last. Students can register for $15 and can pay an additional $10 for an event shirt.
