Friends Of The Library Announce 2017 Art Show And Sale

By Arlene Miller, Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library

The Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library are excited to announce its 10th annual Art Show and Sale. This year’s show will run from April 23-30, held at the Library’s Community Room.

Maybe you’ve been planning to submit a drawing or painting you’ve been working on or maybe that beach photo that captured the light exactly how you wanted to, but you never quite got around to it; or you remembered the show too late or misplaced your paint brushes and decided to wait until next year. Well, next year is here and April will be here before any of us realizes, so maybe some planning is in order now to decide what you want to enter, then getting started so you can become one of our participating artists.

In addition, this year marks Pennsauken’s 125th anniversary and the Friends would like to include art work with a Pennsauken theme. While it’s not a requirement, it’s a nice jumping off point in case you can’t decide what to write, draw, paint, sketch, sculpt, or photograph. Longtime Pennsauken residents have lots of memories to work with, while newer residents may see things in a whole new light. Regardless of the subject matter, we hope to get in a lot of interesting submissions.

The art show is open to Pennsauken and Merchantville residents; details regarding art submissions are available at the information desk in the lobby of the Library. The Friends will have more information in coming months about the event, as well as other art related activities going on during show week.
