Friends Of The Library Art Show This Month

Here’s the final tally of all workshops taking place during our Art Show and Sale, running April 19-26:

  • Sunday, April 19, 1:30–3:30 p.m., “Watercolor;” and 3:30–4:30 p.m., “Introduction to Digital Photography
  • Tuesday, April 21, 1:00–3: 00 p.m., “Pressed Flowers”
  • Wednesday, April 22, 7:00 p.m., “Picture Framing Made Easy and Done Right”
  • Thursday, April 23, 1:00–3:00 p.m., “Hand Applique Quilt Project”
  • Saturday, April 25, 1:00–3:00 p.m., “Stained Glass Mosaic”
  • Sunday, April 26, 2:00–4:00 p.m., “Meet the Artists Reception and Sale”

Since all workshops have limited space, please remember to sign up at the Library’s circulation desk to assure a space. All children 10 years and under must be accompanied by an adult throughout the session.

Poetry Contest Submissions Due May 1

Residents of Pennsauken and Merchantville can pick up applications for the Friends’ 15th annual poetry contest at the Pennsauken Library circulation desk; they can also be mailed to Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library, 5605 Crescent Blvd., Pennsauken, NJ 08110. Please keep in mind that no submissions will be returned.

Changes this year include the new “shape poem” and “word poem” categories for kindergarteners and first grade students, as well as “ridiculous rhymes” for high school and adult participants.

AARP Safe Driving Course Held In June

The Friends will be offering the AARP two-day Safe Driving Course June 2-3 from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at the Library. Since the maximum number of attendees is limited to 25, you’ll want to sign up soon. Cost is $15.00 per person for AARP members and $20 per person for non-members. You must provide a check at the time you sign up at the Library’s circulation desk.

April Membership Drive

April is the start of the Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library’s annual membership drive. If you’re already a member of the Friends, it’s time to re-up your commitment for the year. If you’re not, please consider joining us and lending your financial and other support to the Friends and to the Library.
