Signal Retiming Along Haddonfield Road Cuts Travel Time By As Much As Thirty Percent

Motorists in Camden County are getting to their destinations faster thanks to the completion of the Traffic Signal Retiming Initiative along Haddonfield Road. The Camden County Department of Public Works, in partnership with the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVPRC) and the state Department of Transportation recently completed the three-year project which led to 12 recalculated traffic signals from Wyndam Road near Route 73 in Pennsauken Township to Town Center Drive near Route 70 in Cherry Hill.

At the end of March, the Pennsauken community mourned the loss of high school student Quason Turner, who was tragically killed as he crossed Rt. 130. A few days later, Norman Schultz of Philadelphia was killed crossing Rt. 70 by McClellan Ave.

In the last 39 months, there have been 11 traffic-related fatalities in Pennsauken. Nine of them have been pedestrians, with most occurring on major highways. The Pennsauken Police Department shares the sentiment of the Pennsauken community that it’s 11 too many.

Papal Visit, World Meeting Of Families To Impact Pennsauken

This month, Pope Francis will make his first visit to the United States, culminating with a papal mass on Sunday, Sept. 27 during the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia. While this is a once-in-a-lifetime event for our region, it also brings with it a wide variety of challenges. As Pennsauken is a stone’s throw from Philly, our community will be impacted as well, particularly when it comes to traffic.
